You’re invited! Please join us for the premiere of “In My Own Words,” a compelling documentary that shares the extraordinary journeys of four young adults as they navigate life in Canada as international students.
Through their stories, we’ll explore themes of resilience, building community, finding identity, and managing mental health while adapting to life in a new country.
Following the screening, we invite you to join an interactive panel discussion and audience Q&A with the four storytellers featured in the film. From them we will hear about what it’s like to navigate life as an international student, how they got that first professional job after graduating, what they did to find community in a new country while building a new identity, as well as managing their mental health as a newcomer and the grief of leaving home.
The evening will feature South Asian-inspired cusine provided by Aangen, a Toronto-based social enterprise, as well as a raffle for Unsinkable merchandise to support their initiatives.
Finally, we will end the evening with some social time, an opportunity for folks to network and connect.
VIP ticket holders will enjoy exclusive perks, including priority seating, a meet-and-greet with the storytellers, and a special Unsinkable gift.
This will surely be a night to remember. See you there!
