DESCRIPTION:918 Bathurst is announcing our new Rush Rehearsals Rentals program.  Each month\, 918 Bathurst will release a calendar of dates and times in that month during which 918’s Great Hall and Gallery will be available to rent for $17/hour.  \nThis special rate is only valid for the times specified\, and must be booked using the Rush Rehearsals Rentals calendar.  Please note that bookings made through the online calendar are only booking requests and are not confirmed until bookings have been processed and contracted by the 918 Bathurst office.

DESCRIPTION:October 23 / 6:00-9:00pm / Location: 918 Bathurst \n$45\, PWYC Option (Suggested Donation $10-$30) / Please RSVP at https://bit.ly/2mr9IAu​ \n*All proceeds from this event will go towards the development of the Akin Studio Rent Relief Fund\, providing artists short term financial aid towards their studio rent in unexpected situations or times of financial instability. \nEvent Description:\nJoin Akin and Rania El Mugammar to explore the language\, theories and practices of anti-oppression in depth. \nInstitutional\, community-based and organizational strategies for building equity and unlearning oppression are central to the content and objectives of the workshop. Creative\, technical and collaborative models for building equity and liberation will be explored. Group activities\, case studies and discussion are critical tools to apply the learnings of this workshop. Artists will examine the power dynamics that shape access\, inclusion and opportunities in Canada’s arts and cultural landscape. The anti-oppression framework will be used to critique institutional dynamics as well as personal artistic practices. Participants will have access to a plethora of digital and print resources to continue their learning journey beyond the scope of the session. \nAccessibility Info:\n918 Bathurst is not wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately\, the building was designed in the 1950’s\, and the spaces are accessed via several short flights of stairs. She has worked extensively with contemporary arts institutions\, STEM based enterprises\, media organization\, GBV advocacy\, health initiatives\, educational institutions and community/grassroots spaces. \nPlease note: we do not wish for cost to be a barrier for anyone wishing to attend this event.
