SUMMARY:nerds are Punk Too: Concert\, Multimedia | X Avant XVIII: Neeeerrrrddddssss series
DESCRIPTION:On September 6\, the Music Gallery released an open letter about shifts in programming. Upon hearing about funding cuts to our community partners and established arts institutions being placed in receivership we decided to take action. \nPlease read the full letter here. \nThis event is dedicated to those who feel passionate\, who feel helpless and everything in between. We’re making space at the Music Gallery\, free from judgment or emotional policing to break\, build\, and dream what we want our futures to look like. \nThe roundtable discussion and hands-on brainstorm will end in a mixer for those interested in meeting like-minded people in the arts world. \nIf you have any questions\, concerns\, or would like to get involved in any capacity\, please reach out to sanjeet@musicgallery.org. \nFREE – Just RSVP HERE!

SUMMARY:MAiDHouse - Art for the Soul
DESCRIPTION:On November 2nd\, 2023\, join MAiDHouse at the 918 Bathurst Centre for Culture\, Arts\, Media and Education from 6 – 9 pm for Art for the Soul: an interactive\, in-person event exploring art and space in the contexts of death\, MAiD\, grief\, comfort and healing. Catering for this event is provided and sponsored by Harbour House Grill\, in memory of Douglas Kurr. \nThe central feature of Art for the Soul will be a panel discussion starting at 6:30 pm\, which will explore the importance of space and art to the end-of-life experience — both for those receiving MAiD\, and for their supporters and loved ones. The panelists Chantal Perrot\, past chair of MAiDHouse and a Director at Dying With Dignity Canada (DWDC); Dr. Chen Shen\, curator and Vice President of Art and Culture at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM); and Claire O’Donnell\, Prinicpal at Parkin Architects\, will contribute expertise\, insights\, and stories to help us think about the impact of space\, both physical and meta-physical\, at the end of life. \nWithin our event space\, participants will have the opportunity to take part in several interactive activities\, including an installation from the Health Design Studio at OCAD University\, an origami activity\, and a collaborative thought piece from MAiDHouse. \nA silent auction of a variety of art pieces will be on display\, with auction winners announced at the end of the evening\, in support of MAiDHouse. A preview of the art pieces can be found on our social media. \nTickets are $25 for general admission\, $15 for students and attendees aged 25 and under.

SUMMARY:Music Gallery Presents: Eve Egoyan + Mauricio Pauly
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the collaboration of two prolific artists\, Eve Egoyan and Mauricio Pauly.\nAlbum release tour concert : Hopeful Monster\, music by Eve Egoyan and Mauricio Pauly \nEve Egoyan (acoustic and augmented piano) and Mauricio Pauly (chromaharp\, lapsteel\, live sampling and processing). \nEve shadows the acoustic piano with a virtual piano and audio samples to augment and extend its sonic and expressive range in newly imagined ways. Mauricio performs using multiple samplers tuned for different modes of live capture\, manipulation and effects processing of his amplified instruments and of Eve’s pianos. \nThe intimate musical partnership between Egoyan and Pauly is borderline miraculous. Their exchanges feel spontaneous inasmuch as they radiate urgency and wonder\, however they’re also deeply grounded in a distinctive sense of navigational focus. \nMG Members / Low Income / Arts Workers $10\nAdvance $15\nRegular $20 \nBuy tickets here!
