SUMMARY:The Music Gallery Presents: Roulette
DESCRIPTION:The Music Gallery\, in partnership with @roulette_intermedium\, presents a cross-border residency and performance project bridging Toronto and New York’s experimental music communities. From February 3-7\, 2025\, Toronto-based artist Allison Cameron and New York-based artist Madeline Stepien (fka pent) will collaborate at The Music Gallery to create a new\, experimental electronic work bending the possibilities of spatial acoustics through synthetic means. The residency will bring together Madeline’s electronic practice with Allison’s improvisational found sound and piano\, culminating in performances on February 7 in Toronto and February 28 in New York. Opening the night is John Kameel Farah centering his practice of combining piano and organ with synthesizers and effects processing.

SUMMARY:BFSA X Tailoring Black Style Fashion Show
DESCRIPTION:BFSA’s Tailoring Black Style Fashion show explores the purpose and power of Black fashion beyond the constraints of colonial and white gaze ideals. Inspired by the MET Gala’s 2025 exhibition\, this show critiques how Black style has been historically reshaped to align with Eurocentric norms\, questioning who is tailoring and why. \nWe are inviting five designers (Max Twum-Antwi\, Uwadiunor Ife\, Mufaro\, Navern Nash-Longshaw\, and Tony Digba) to respond to these provocations and redefine what tailoring Black style means to them. By highlighting Black culture beyond assimilation\, this show affirms that Black creativity is limitless\, untamed\, and unapologetically self-defined.

DESCRIPTION:This workshop alongside Hands on ASL attempts to bridge the language gap between hearing\, Deaf\, and Hard-of-hearing artistic communities. With a focus on art and sound ASL vocabulary\, attendees will learn ways to express equipment and staging needs with useful phrases such as: \n\n“Great job”\n“Can you make the light dimmer/ brighter”\n“Could we try that again\, but like this…”\n“Is there a green room?”\n“I like that!”\n\nHands On ASL! offers custom workshops tailored to diverse audiences\, and we are thrilled to have Courage facilitate this session. In this interactive workshop\, participants will learn basic ASL while exploring the intersection of accessibility\, art\, and theatre. Courage’s expertise as a multidisciplinary artist and advocate brings a unique perspective on how inclusive practices can transform creative spaces.
