This drama explores a unique, often funny relationship between Herb, a Russian-Jewish furrier and Alec, a trapper and former chief of the Saulteaux, who has traded with him for years, a relationship which threatens their respective communities and their own sons who are impatient to take over from these two elders.
Herb and Alec share a quality of individuality and soulfulness, yet are starting to lose their power. Their families, communities, and mother nature itself seems to turn against them in the year of the flood.
