Fllowin the showcase the event will move into the official opening party of the festival featuring a live DJ to dance the night away. \nSaturday August 17th\, 2019 \nBlack Womyn of the Word: Black Womyn of the Word is an open mic and SLAM showcasing all Black Womyn poets performing poetry while competing for a cash prize. \nGriots and Songbirds Showcase: Griots and Songbirds features collaborative performances between some of the top poets and singers in the City and beyond. Feature Performance by Tika Simone. \nSunday August 18th\, 2019 \nToronto International Poetry Slam: Toronto International Poetry SLAM returns to Toronto. Started in 2003\, this competitoin puts spoken word artists from across North America and europe against one another for $1\,000 US in cash.
