On November 2nd, 2023, join MAiDHouse at the 918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media and Education from 6 – 9 pm for Art for the Soul: an interactive, in-person event exploring art and space in the contexts of death, MAiD, grief, comfort and healing. Catering for this event is provided and sponsored by Harbour House Grill, in memory of Douglas Kurr.
The central feature of Art for the Soul will be a panel discussion starting at 6:30 pm, which will explore the importance of space and art to the end-of-life experience — both for those receiving MAiD, and for their supporters and loved ones. The panelists Chantal Perrot, past chair of MAiDHouse and a Director at Dying With Dignity Canada (DWDC); Dr. Chen Shen, curator and Vice President of Art and Culture at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM); and Claire O’Donnell, Prinicpal at Parkin Architects, will contribute expertise, insights, and stories to help us think about the impact of space, both physical and meta-physical, at the end of life.
Within our event space, participants will have the opportunity to take part in several interactive activities, including an installation from the Health Design Studio at OCAD University, an origami activity, and a collaborative thought piece from MAiDHouse.
A silent auction of a variety of art pieces will be on display, with auction winners announced at the end of the evening, in support of MAiDHouse. A preview of the art pieces can be found on our social media.
Tickets are $25 for general admission, $15 for students and attendees aged 25 and under.
