Reeds Vol.2

“…there’s so much that I want to tell you,So much more that I want to hear”
VOLUME 2.0! In celebration of the anniversary of the release of Zico’s first poetry collection Reeds, you are invited for an intimate evening of music and poetry. This time in a space thats just a little bit bigger than last time, but keeping with the same cozy vibes. The show will feature live music with stripped-back versions of his songs, playing along some of the coolest musicians in the city, with selected readings from the book.
Reeds is a collection of poems written by Zico. It draws (in many places very unsubtly) from the very disparate influences that shape our consciousness as a generation and collective, and Zico’s as an individual. At the heart of it, the zine also prominently features pieces about the defining cause of our time, our compass, Palestine. The collection focuses on diasporic experience and calls us in to find comfort and consolation in sharing them with each other.
The zine was beautifully designed by the incredible Mostafa Zohdy and it will be available at the show for those attending.
Show proceeds will go to support mutual aid for families in Gaza. There’s an option to top up your ticket purchase with a donation, please give as much as you can! There will be more details shared at the show about the families that will benefit from the donations.
Come and join us in community to be part of this special night, to hopefully find some solace in the art and in each other.
