The Music Gallery and 918 Bathurst Centre For Culture, Arts, Media and Education Announce Partnership
Toronto, November 15, 2017. Following months of uncertainty about its venue status, The Music Gallery (MG) is pleased to announce a new partnership with 918 Bathurst Centre for Culture, Arts, Media and Education (918). The Music Gallery will use 918 Bathurst as its home base for performances and is committed to playing a significant role in supporting 918 Bathurst increase its own programming capacity.
Both organizations are committed to creating a premier, mid-priced concert venue in midtown Toronto that combines the beautiful acoustic space of 918 Bathurst with the Music Gallery’s technical infrastructure and four decades of experience in staging concerts of all types. The MG and 918 look forward to creating more space for artists and their art at a time when the city of Toronto needs more quality music venues.
The letter of agreement approved by both parties covers the first six months of 2018 with an understanding to refine the partnership during that time. Among the most important considerations in this new relationship is a shared commitment to addressing accessibility issues at 918 Bathurst in a comprehensive fashion.
“After a very challenging few months, we couldn’t be happier to have found such a fine counterpoint in 918 Bathurst with Daniela Nardi at the helm” says MG Executive Director Monica Pearce. “We are truly excited for this wonderful new chapter for the Music Gallery.”
The Music Gallery will continue to provide original programming and co-presented events such as the upcoming Kith And Kin Holiday Wassail (December 17). Both parties will collaborate in providing customizable concert rental services which utilize the Music Gallery’s expertise and technical complement in the 918 Bathurst space.
The Music Gallery offices remain in the Church of St. George the Martyr, and concerts will occasionally be programmed in the Church Sanctuary. As in past years, the MG will continue to produce shows in various venues around Toronto in addition to 918 Bathurst.
