Podium Project

Posted on: Thursday, September 10th, 2009

PODium is a pilot project for young women launched by 918 Bathurst, an inclusive community arts centre based in Toronto’s Annex. Following the community outreach mandate of 918, PODium bridges academia, art, media skills and empowerment through our podcasting program.

The program allows young women who may not have access to digital media and knowledge of creative software programs, to gain valuable experience. Through this program, students explore critical issues in today’s contemporary society, as well as obtain leadership, media literacy and confidence skills. This fall, we are pleased to partner with Central Technical High School.

Lecture: “Images of Persuasion” with Terry O’Reilly

Posted on: Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Terry O’Reilly is the perfect guide to the “Age of Persuasion”. As the host, creator and co-writer with Mike Tennant of two wildly popular CBC Radio series on advertising, he is known as a delightful raconteur and scholar of media literature. But unlike academics, his day job as one of the top directors of radio and TV commercials, affords him a unique perspective on marketing and how it has driven a change in the way we react to media.

Join us May 14th, as Terry O’Reilly continues to explore the countless ways marketers permeate your life, from media, art, and language, to politics, religion, and fashion.

When: May 14th, 6:30 – 8:30
Where: 918 Bathurst Street
Admission: $10 – pre-register online now! – $12 at door
